Traci Ardren, PhD

Traci Ardren is professor of anthropology at the University of Miami, and an archaeologist focused on Classic Maya culture. She has been a backyard beekeeper for many years and works with modern Maya women in Yaxunah to revive local traditions of melipona bee tending. Her current research is focused on the use of beeswax in the Classic Maya period and her most recent book is Everyday Life in the Classic Maya World.
